Michael Horn is the principal and founder at Startup World Consulting.
Michael is an active member of the New York startup community. He was recently selected by Charlie O'Donnell of First Round Capital as a 2011 NextNY Fellow, a program designed to support New York startup community leaders. His projects have been featured in The New York Times, Tasting Table and many other online publications. Michael has spoken about entrepreneurship as an invited guest on a Columbia Business School panel.
As an attorney, Michael initially focused on the business and legal aspects of launching a startup. But as his experience evolved, he engaged the full spectrum of skills required to build successful startup companies - project management, design, frontend development and backend development. Michael launched CraftCoffee, his most recent startup, in November 2010. Prior to CraftCoffee Michael created WhatIsFresh. In December 2009, the New York Times wrote that "WhatIsFresh.com is the best guide to what is available in which Greenmarkets." In January 2010, Tasting Table wrote that "Horn's site brilliantly makes sense of the dozens of Greenmarkets scattered around Manhattan and Brooklyn."
Prior to launching his entrepreneurial career, Michael was an attorney at a leading New York City law firm, representing major investment banks and large corporations in debt-financed transactions. Michael graduated with a J.D. from Cornell Law School, where he was a Notes Editor on the Cornell International Law Journal and a co-founder of the Cornell Sports and Entertainment Law Consortium. He received his B.A. with Honors in political science from the University of Arizona, where he graduated magna cum laude and was the founder of the Arizona Student Recycling Association, which worked closely with university and city leaders to green the UofA campus and surrounding area.
